This makes lovely light violet, marked flowers with a noticeably broad, yellow-orange throat. The flowers are of a good size and dependable, they are produced later than those of closely related species (such as kotschyanus and ochroleucus) and the flowering season is longer than its relatives too. Unlike related species, this stock starts to make its leaves early and these are present and often 5 cm at flowering time.

Originally found by Pasche and Kerndorff in Turkey, on the ascent of Cebel-i Akra, Hatay province, at altitude of 1150 m, on 17 March 1992. It was described as a new species by Janis Ruksans in December 2018. Our stock stems directly from the 1992 KP collection which has remained in cultivation since it was first collected.
