Cyclamen species
We have all stepped into a nursery or garden centre in winter looking at Florist Cyclamens on display. I know I have taken more than one home. But did you know the Cyclamen genus currently comprises of 24 species that with the exception of just two species, are summer dormant and winter growing plants.
Cyclamen are tuberous perennial plants in the family Primulaceae that generally grow in a Mediterranean climate and in nature are geographically, largely, a circum-Mediterranean plant with outliers in Somalia to the south and the southern shores of the Caspian Sea to the east.
For more info on the genus Cyclamen head over to the Cyclamen Society webpage: https://www.cyclamen.org/
